Travis Person, P.E.
Owner and Principal Engineer — Waynesville, North Carolina
Second Generation, Same Standard
Travis Person is a licensed North Carolina professional engineer and the second generation to run Person Engineering, the firm his father, William Person, founded. He holds a bachelor’s degree in civil engineering from the University of North Carolina at Charlotte. He specializes in foundation certifications for manufactured homes — the sealed engineering letters that FHA, VA, USDA, and conventional lenders require before a manufactured home can be financed as real estate.
He performs and seals this work himself. Every certification letter issued by Person Engineering carries his stamp and signature, and the evaluation behind it — how a home transfers its load into the ground, how it’s anchored against wind and uplift, whether an addition affects the structure — is his engineering judgment applied to that specific home on that specific site.
He works across all of North Carolina, from the mountain counties to the coast, and some of his client relationships with dealers, lenders, and agents go back twenty to thirty years. He answers his own phone.

Who Reviews This Site
Travis reviews and approves every article, service page, and technical claim published on this site. Nothing describing HUD’s Permanent Foundations Guide for Manufactured Housing, lender requirements, or what an inspection covers goes live until he has verified it against the standards or his own field experience. Where a question depends on an individual lender or an individual home, this site says so rather than stating a rule.
License verification. North Carolina P.E. No. 048738. Anyone can confirm the status of a North Carolina engineer’s license through the North Carolina Board of Examiners for Engineers and Surveyors — ours included.
